One thing I mentioned in passing in my bath toys for toddlers post was the issue of my son him throwing his toys. When when was about a year and a half, maybe a little earlier, he started throwing EVERYTHING. After doing a little research, we found out this was completely normal and actually developmentally appropriate.
Of course it started to get a little frustrating when he would throw large toys that put nicks and dents in our wood floors! Knowing that it would be pretty much futile to try and keep him from throwing since "forbidding" him only made it more fun (for him of course), and we didn't want to stifle any appropriate development!
Anyway, I found this article at What To Expect to be a decent summary with some advice. Of course, having soft toys, like the five sea squirts from the last post, around that you don't mind being thrown is also helpful!
