Bath Toys for Toddlers

Bath toys for toddlers

Some of the best gifts that we have received for our son over the past year or so have been bath toys for toddlers. As the holidays approach and we are looking into gifts for family member's toddlers, this is what comes to mind. Let me show you the three that I've liked best and why I chose the one I did

But before I do that, let me paint a picture for you. If you have a toddler, I bet it's one you've had to deal with before as well!

My son doesn't really care for baths. There have been times when my wife and I have tried to give him one and he has screamed his little lungs out the whole time. It's sad and even mildly traumatic for everyone involved!

One time during one of these screaming bath fits, his grandmother suggested that we use something else to distract him. Even though he always hauls around toys when he's not in the bath, I never really put this together. Maybe it was the whole new parent thing, or maybe I was still suffering from the sleep deficit I racked up when he was younger!

At any rate, next time grandma came around she had some toddler bath toys with her, and it really helped!

Now, on to some that I think are particularly cool.

Sorry to state the obvious, but first you want to make sure that the toys you're getting are made of materials that float and won't get messed up in the water. It's also important to make sure that they are durable enough to withstand the abuse that they are sure to take from your toddler! Chewing, throwing, all that good stuff.

My son has absolutely loved these toys because they are a good size for him, and once I showed him how to make them squirt water, he couldn't get enough of playing with them. In fact, the became some of his favorite toys out of the bath as well! This actually worked out quite well for us because when he went through a phase of throwing everything he picked up, we could give him these and they wouldn't do any further damage to our house. Good times...

I found that this set of toys is a good size, occupies him while he's in the tub and has excellent ratings. Click here to see the best price on the best bath toys for toddlers - munchkin five sea squirts.

Fun bath toys for toddlers

Of course it's the fact that he is kept entertained and engaged that distracts him from the fact that he is being clean, so we try to rotate in toys that do different stuff so that he doesn't get bored with just one thing.

It's always a bonus when the toys not only entertain, but serve a useful purpose, like helping increase developmental skills such as hand-eye coordination. One toy that covers both of these bases well as a fun bath toy for toddlers is the Tolo Toys Funtime Fishing set. It has magnetic fishes and fishing pole so that your toddler can practice fishing in the bath tub! Another thing my son enjoys is reading... Well, at least holding books and looking at the pictures. Naturally we want to do as much as we can to keep him interested in books, so he hopefully continues reading in the future.

Obviously we don't want to risk messing up his regular books by getting them anywhere near the water in the bath tub, so we had to find another solution. There are a number of them out there, but I found one that is pretty popular and made especially for toddlers to read in the bath tub, so I think it would work great for you.
